JUNE 2015

It's been 19 years since AGN International was created by the merger of three like-minded associations into one -- followed by the merger with another association a few years' later. For member firms and staff which have been around since 1996 (and before), it's been quite a ride! AGN constantly thinks about how we reach and connect with our stakeholders, be they members, members' clients, staff, or business partners. Occasionally, an aggressive re-evaluation is needed and leads to re-branding in order to reflect more closely our growth, values and focus, and to align external and internal perceptions of the AGN brand.

With all this in mind, AGN International engaged the help of Source Design Limited based in Shrewsbury, UK who are known for their approach in using color psychology to drive the branding process. This refreshing and insightful process has allowed your entire AGN team to focus on our own values, aims, and aspirations for the Association.

In considering what is valuable, differentiating, and authentic to all AGN regions worldwide, three "pillars" have been identified:

excellent.    We uphold high standards of professionalism and service in all that we do.
connected.    We have strong relationships. We are linked and coordinated. We have a spirit of global collaboration directed to service client interest.
individual.    We are real people; 3-dimensional personalities. Trusted professionals you actually want to do business with.

This newsletter is a sneak peek of our new design (a work in progress) that's being launched in the coming weeks with a new responsive website, AGN brochure, and collateral materials. The new AGN logo incorporates all the colors that represent each of our five regions: Asia Pacific, Central & South America, Europe, North America, and West Asia and Africa.

Every professional branding strategy includes brand guidelines of identity and logo usage. Members must follow these guidelines to incorporate the new AGN logo into their own websites and collateral materials.

We're very excited about the new brand identity and that it represents AGN as a professional organization. We certainly hope that you like our new image, too!

      2015 IT Roundtable - a big success!
Held June 10-12 in the Daytona Beach, FL office of AGN member firm James Moore & Co. P.L.,  18 IT professionals learned about Data Retention and Cyber Security from Peter Scavuzzo, IT Risks and Data Security from Randy Johnston, and member led discussions on Internal/Central Firm Webpage, XCM Workflow Year 2, Monitoring In-Depth, and Security Assessments and IT Audits.

IT Core Team Leaders are: Mark Atkinson, MCSE/2000, CCA, CCNA (Sisterson & Co. LLP); Jason Carroll (Chiampou, Travis, Besaw & Kershner LLP); Drew Green, MCSE (Thomas, Judy & Tucker, P.A.); and Joseph Martin (James Moore & Co. P.L.). Congratulations on a job very well done!

Two participants had this to say about this year's Roundtable:

"Thanks to Chris, Joe, Mark, Evan, Troy, and the rest of JMCO for hosting the wonderful 2015 AGN IT Conference this past weekend. I learned a lot and am sure everyone else did as well. This event is always great for knowledge-sharing and team-building amongst the IT departments of AGN, and we had a fantastic turnout this year with nearly 20 attendees! I'm already looking forward to next year's event!"
-- Drew Green, Thomas, Judy & Tucker, P.A.

"I would like to second that. This was my first time going and with still being new to the accounting industry I learned a lot. This was one of the best conferences I have been to in any industry."
-- Ryan Beer, Hungerford Nichols CPAs + Advisors

The AGN-NA staff has taken a hard look at the Sharegroups' Knowledge Banks to determine the validity of documents. Those documents prior to 2011 have been purged and a campaign is underway to re-populate the Knowledge Banks with as many relevant documents from member firms as possible. The Executive Committee has requested that every member firm submit their most recent versions of these documents:

• Deferred Compensation Agreements
• Shareholder/Partnership Repurchase Agreements
• Strategic Plan
• Merger & Acquisition Due Diligence Checklists
• Disaster Recovery Plan

Don't worry if you don't have all of the items listed above, send Patsy the documents you do have!

Remember, the Knowledge Banks are libraries of documents submitted by members on "how we do it around here" and are priceless when it comes to helping other members short circuit the time in updating their procedures and policies.

Check the Knowledge Banks first when looking for information, and be sure to submit your firm's documents in those critical areas which are requested.

The firm was fortunate to have Bill for 17 years, everyone who worked with Bill loved him. He was a dedicated father and friend and was great at what he did, and even better with his co-workers. He never lost sight of what was truly important to him - his family and friends.

With the new brand, the International and North American websites ( are transitioning to a new look - as early as July 1. Please be patient with us as we convert the thousands of pages of knowledge in the North American website to the new design. And, we encourage you to begin the process of transitioning all your references to AGN in your websites, collaterals, etc. to the new brand as well!

Regarding our Vendors page (in the NA members' only section), please note that last January, we announced a relationship with Agility Recovery, Inc., where NA members can join to ensure peace of mind if a disaster strikes. As a part of our relationship, Agility team members (Charles States, in particular) is reaching out to member firms to educate you on their value proposition:

Following a disaster or other business interruption, Agility provides businesses of any size access to the four key elements of recovery via its ReadySuite platform - temporary power, internet and phone communications, computer and office equipment and temporary office space - to get operations back up and running.

Agility was recently bought out, which has enabled more outreach to partners (like AGN-NA). Please know that this outreach is approved by NA headquarter's office. As always, NA member firms are free to respond (or not) to these requests.

Contact your AGN-NA REGIONAL OFFICE and they will assign you an individual username and password.

In addition, you will receive email newsletters and other communications from AGN (international and regional updates, announcements about AGN conferences, webinars, teleconferences, etc.)
